St Peter’s, Parham, RH20 4HS
St Peter’s Parham sits in a peaceful location within Parham Park at the foot of the South Downs and near to 16th century Parham House, where the closest neighbours are often deer and ravens. The church is normally open daily and it is possible to walk or drive to visit the church even when Parham House is not open. Please park just before the church on the left.
St Peter’s has a small but committed and welcoming congregation. Services of Holy Communion (9.15am) and Evensong (3pm in winter, 6pm in summer) are held twice monthly, mainly using the traditional Book of Common Prayer. Special services are sometimes held outside, notably the Easter sunrise Communion service.
The beautiful Grade 1 listed building has box pews and a warming fireplace in the family pew. It is a major responsibility for the small church community and donations towards care of the building are always welcome.
Parham parish has few inhabitants but many people locally feel connected to the church through family members who worked on the estate or are buried in the churchyard. Weddings, baptisms and funerals continue to be held here, subject to a connection with the parish.
