Wiggonholt Church, Pulborough RH20 2EQ
Wiggonholt parish church sits in beautiful countryside on the edge of the Wildbrooks near the Riven Arun, in a hamlet with a population of little over 30.
The small and simple building has probably been here since about 1200 and still has no electricity for heating or lighting. It is much loved and cared for, though its Grade 1 listed status means it is a considerable burden for the small community to maintain.
The setting on the edge of the brooks and close to Pulborough Brooks RSPB reserve draws many walkers and visitors to this peaceful place. The church community is always open to welcoming new members and visitors.
Services are held twice monthly and normally follow the traditional Book of Common Prayer, with a 9.15am Holy Communion and 6pm Evensong (3pm in winter). We also hold a range of occasional services including Compline and special services at Easter, Harvest and Christmas. Over recent times we have enjoyed meeting in the setting of the beautiful churchyard when weather permits.
Weddings, baptisms and funerals can be held at Wiggonholt church, particularly if you have a local connection. Please enquire for details of what may be possible.
